About Us

Professional Municipal Administrators [PMA] is a professional organization composed of municipal administrators, town/city managers, town/city clerks, and department heads who are committed to improving the quality of administration in local government in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Its mission is to enhance and promote professional management and leadership excellence in local government through professional development, the exchanging of ideas and information, for the continued recognition of PMA as an authority on municipal government.

ASSOCIATION OBJECTIVES

Professional Municipal Administrators [PMA] has been active since 1972 (under the name the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Municipal Administrators [NLAMA] until 2009.) It is dedicated to preserving and advancing excellence in municipal administration in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Today, we are a growing and progressive organization with a very bright future! Our focus is on the professional development of administrators through established professional standardized training, partnership, and sharing.

Our Association has undergone a Strategic Planning Process, and as a result we have set a number of objectives:

•    Enhance and promote the professional status of all aspects of municipal administrators.

•    Foster a better understanding of all aspects of municipal administrators.

•    Promote an educational program for all municipal administrators in the Province.

•    Work in partnership with organizations which have the objective of betterment of municipal government.

•    Create a greater awareness in the general public of the benefits of municipal government.
